The accused Girish Gondane has been arrested on the charge of attempt to murder

Nagpur: Suspecting his wife’s infidelity, a pervert man tried to kill his newborn son by throwing him on the floor in a fit of rage, after a heated argument with wife. The shocking incident took place at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur and the condition of the child is reportedly stable, police said.
The accused has been identified as Girish Mahadeorao Gondane (32), a resident of Sawardi village of Amravati district. According to police, Girish and Pratiksha had a love-marriage in 2020. Pratiksha was admitted to Nagpur GMCH for delivery. On December 30, Pratiksha gave birth to a baby boy. Pratiksha’s mother stayed at the Hospital to take care of the mother-son duo. For the past few weeks, the accused Girish was suspecting the fidelity of wife and used to quarrel with her on the telephone, police said.
On Saturday evening, he came to maternity Ward No 46 and started abusing Pratiksha. She asked him to leave the place as other women patients, too, were present in the ward. He lost his cool and grabbed the child from the bed and slammed him on the floor. Other patients and nurses were shocked after seeing the incident. They caught hold of Girish and alerted the police. Ajni Police rushed to the spot and took him into custody. The baby was shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and his condition is reportedly stable.
A case under Sections 307 and 323 of IPC was registered by Ajni Police against the accused Girish Gondane. Further probe is underway.
