Siddh Batteries Manager Defrauds Company by Selling Batteries Worth Lakhs to His Own Firms

Nagpur: A company manager has been accused of selling batteries worth lakhs of rupees to his own companies without depositing the money into the business account. The fraud came to light, leading to a case being registered against the accused at Dhantoli police station. The suspect is yet to be arrested.

Navratan Balgat (42), a resident of Ramdaspeth, owns a business called Siddh Batteries, with branches in Congress Nagar and Bhandara. To manage the operations in Bhandara, he appointed Purushottam Kashinath Borkar (36), a resident of Kranti Ward, Bhandara, as the manager. However, Purushottam secretly ran three other companies, information that he kept hidden from Navratan.

Between January 1, 2018, and March 30, 2024, Purushottam allegedly exploited his position to sell batteries worth ₹15,32,849 to his own firms, without depositing the money into the company’s account. When questioned about the missing funds, Purushottam continually delayed and avoided providing answers, leading to multiple disputes between him and Navratan.

Arrest Imminent

The case eventually reached the police, and after a preliminary investigation, Purushottam was held responsible for the fraud at Siddh Batteries. The police are conducting searches at potential locations to apprehend him, but he remains at large. Authorities claim that his arrest is imminent.
