Nagpur: The skies over Kasturchand Park in Nagpur were aglow with the fervour of Vijaya Dashami, Dussehra as the annual event celebrating the victory of good over evil culminated in the grand spectacle of Ravan Dahan and a dazzling display of firecrackers.
The event, organized by the Sanatan Dharma Yuvak Sabha, has been a cherished tradition in Nagpur for the past 72 years, but this year, it made history by embracing diversity and inclusion. For the first time, a troupe of 15 transgenders took the stage, adding a remarkable touch to the festivities.
The collaboration with the Vishwa Mamatva Foundation, a city NGO dedicated to the welfare of transgenders, marked a significant milestone in the event’s history. It not only highlighted the spirit of togetherness but also symbolized a significant step towards social inclusivity.
