Nagpur: All slaughterhouses and meat shops in Nagpur city will be closed on Friday, August 30 on the occasion of Paryushan Parva and on Saturday, September 07 (Ganesh Chaturthi).
NMC’s Solid Waste Management Department Director and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Gajendra Mahalle issued an order in this regard. Any violations of this order will be subject to action by the Municipal Corporation’s flying squad.
Paryushana, also known as Paryushan Parva, is a major annual Jain festival that takes place in the middle of the rainy season in India. It’s a time for reflection, purification, and introspection, and is celebrated by both Shwetambara and Digambar Jains.
The 10-day Ganesh Festival begins from September 7.
