The entire incident was captured by the CCTV cameras installed on the campus. Despite this evidence, the Sonegaon police initially refrained from disclosing the details, which led to a delay in apprehending the suspects. However, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anurag Jain, responsible for Zone 1, intervened and issued directives for immediate action. Following this intervention, the Sonegaon police successfully arrested five suspects involved in the incident.

The media report also shed light on the laxity of the Sonegaon police towards crime, highlighting the failure to arrest the suspects involved in a cricket betting racket even after three weeks. It was revealed that the delay in apprehending these individuals was influenced by an officer at the police station who has previously been involved in controversial incidents. Consequently, the officer has been transferred with immediate effect due to these allegations.

The suspects detained in the recent case hold significant influence in the Khamla area. Allegedly acting under Pritam’s orders, they engaged in acts of vandalism targeting vehicles and Maha Metro property with the aim of spreading fear. It is worth noting that Pritam Yadav was recently detained by Ambazari police in connection with an assault on a friend of a rival hookah parlour owner.

The apprehension of the ‘Khamla Gang’ members by the Sonegaon Police marks a significant step towards curbing criminal activities in the area. The police’s prompt action, under the guidance of DCP Anurag Jain, has demonstrated their commitment to maintaining law and order. Efforts are currently underway to locate and arrest Pritam Yadav, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the vandalism incident. The Sonegaon Police, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, will continue their investigations to ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
