South Indian Education Society celebrates 130th Foundation Year

Nagpur: The 130th Foundation Year of South Indian Education Society, which runs Saraswati Vidyalaya, premier educational institution of the society, was celebrated on February 4 in Kanchi Mahaswamigal Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Centenary Auditorium. Rishikumar Bisen IRS, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax, was the Chief Guest.

The program was started with prayer rendered by Reshmi Umesh, Headmistress, Primary. Shaili Swaminathan, Archana Rao briefed the history of the school. S. Prabhuraman, coordinator, addressed the gathering about the significant role played by the teachers of yesteryears.

The Chief Guest, in his address, appreciated the efforts of the school management and contribution of ex-students of the school. Saraswati Vidyalaya is a miniature of the country due to the diversified culture and linguistic skills of students and staff.

T.K. Venkatesh, President, SIES, informed the audience about the future plans of the trust. In the beginning, the Chief Guest was honoured by the President.

V. Shankaran, Vice-President, R. S. Sundaram, Joint Secretary, R. Ganesh, Treasurer, R Kumar, T.G. Kumar, V. Durairajan, Vijay Sampath, the governing body members were present. G. Chandrashekar and S. Krishnan were honoured by the guests for their valuable contribution to the society and on completion of 75 years.

Students of Pre-Primary, Primary Secondary Department were felicitated for their extraordinary performance in the activities at national and international level. Recreational games were arranged for the members of the society and the winners were given prizes.
