Nagpur: Railways is running a special train on Kanpur Central to Madurai and back via Nagpur to clear the rush of travellers during the Diwali festival. The train will run with special fare.
Train No. 01927/01928 Kanpur Central-Madurai-Kanpur Central will have 16 Trips. Train No. 01927 Kanpur Central-Madurai Special Express (8 trips) will run weekly from Kanpur Central station from October 9 to November 27, 2024 (Wednesdays). The train will depart from Kanpur Central at 12:30 pm and will arrive at Madurai station on the third day (Friday) at 9:30 am. At Central Railway, in Nagpur Division, the train will reach Nagpur at 4:34 am.

Train No. 01928 Madurai-Kanpur Central Special Express (8 trips) will run weekly from Madurai station from October 11 to November 27, 2024 (Fridays). The train will depart from Madurai at 12:30 pm and will reach Kanpur Central on the third day (Sunday) at 10:22 pm. The train will reach Nagpur at 7:55 pm.
The train has halts has Pokhrayan, Orai, Virangana Laxmibai Jhansi, Lalitpur, Bina, Bhopal, Itarsi, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Balharshah, Sirpur Kagaznagar, Bellampalli, Mancherial, Ramagundam, Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, Nellore, Gudur, Renigunta, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, Palani, and Dindigul.
The train will have 1 AC 2- tier coach, 3 AC 3-tier coaches, 7 Sleeper coaches, 8 General coaches, and 2 Guard Brake Vans, making a total of 21 coaches. The special train on eve of Diwali can provide respite to people from North India who head home for the celebrations. There is huge traffic for North India and compared to that the station quota in long distance trains does not fulfil the requirement.
