Nagpur News.Triggering another big rush for cheap air tickets, SpiceJet which announced a three day sale of domestic tickets at the base fare of Re 1 along with big discounted fares, witnessed a major crash of its website after the travelers rampaged the site to grab their share of cheap tickets. However the tickets under offer would be made available for the journey from July 1, the enthusiastic lot logged on in astounding numbers to lap up the offer.
Right after the announcement, the users plugged on the site which plummeted immediately, leaving the people in Nagpur highly distressed.
The sale has been made applicable on direct flights of SpiceJet’s new domestic network, for which provision of ticket bookings is provided at SpiceJet website (www.spicejet.com), and through travel portals and travel agents. But nearly all the channels were choked completely owing to heavy flow of visitors at these sites.
In addition to the Re 1 offer, discounted fares are also available for Rs 799 and Rs 1,499, and at other attractive rates (statutory taxes and fees not inclusive), depending on specific flight and date of travel. The limited seats offer is available for bookings made in the period April 1 to April 3, 2014 only.
Mahesh Gokhale, an IT professional and frequent business traveler said, “I have been trying to book the ticket since morning, but to my distress even the site is not opening. It has just become as frustrating as railway tatkal hours. Such an offer is nothing but a promotion gimmick. I wonder how many of the users are actually benefited from such an offer.”
Similary Rani Lakhotia, who was enthused by the offer, kept hanging on to the Spicejet’s site without any yield. She desperately made series of attempts to get through but could not get to the main page even, she told Nagpur Today.
