Nagpur– A recent survey conducted by Nagpur Today, led by journalist Avani Arya, has highlighted shocking disparities in the availability of basic amenities in neighboring areas of North Nagpur. Kamgaar and Vitubaba Nagar, located only 1 km apart, show a striking contrast in living conditions, with residents in Vitubaba Nagar facing severe challenges related to sanitation, electricity, and safety.
Residents of Vitubaba Nagar reported critical issues like overflowing sewage lines, a lack of streetlights, and non-functional electricity poles. The unhygienic conditions have become so severe that snakes have been seen emerging from homes, while waterlogged streets and potholes continue to plague the area, making daily life difficult. Many households are also suffering from irregular electricity supply, adding to their woes.
In contrast, residents of kamgaar nagar particularly in the Power Grid area, have a completely different story to tell. They report having access to all essential services, including electricity, clean streets, and proper sanitation, and describe their neighborhood as safe and well-maintained.
The survey raises important questions about the unequal distribution of basic amenities in North Nagpur, especially in areas located so close to one another. Despite being just a few kilometers apart, the quality of life for residents varies drastically, highlighting a pressing need for authorities to address this disparity.
