Startling: Gold worth Rs 2.8 crores found stashed in aircraft’s toilet

In what is touted as one of the biggest seizures in the country, authorities in Pune found 10 huge gold bars in the rear toilet of a SpiceJet plane which landed from Dubai on early Wednesday.

“We recovered 10 gold bars weighing 9.1 kilograms valued at Rs 2.8 crore ,from a flight which had arrived at 4am from Dubai,” said K Shubhendra, deputy commissioner, Pune Customs.

The gold bars were kept in plastic bags, which were kept hidden in the rear toilet of the aircraft. “The case is gaining importance as one of the biggest seizures in the country,” said Shubhendra. The customs officers are trying to find out who abandoned the gold investigations are on.
