The information was shared by State Transport Department in a reply to the query posed by Sanjay Agrawal under Right to Information Act.

The year wise figures are as follows:-

During the same period, Nagpur Regional Transport Office, Nagpur (City) generated 3541 e-challans worth Rs.6.59 crore out of which payment of Rs.4.88 crore was received for 2124 e-challans. Payment worth Rs.2.01 crore for 1417 e-challans is still to be recovered.
Agrawal further said that the Traffic Department has installed CCTV cameras at many squares across Nagpur city, through which it also keeps track on the violators and generates e-challan. Following are the figures of e-challans done by CCTV cameras in the city:-
Period Numbers Amount
January, 2022 169 Rs 1,67,000
February, 2022 108 Rs 1,06,000
March, 2022 83 Rs 37,000
April, 2022 55 Rs 1,12,000
May, 2022 32 Rs 46,000
A look at the statistics of Nagpur City will reveal that it is clear that the number of e-challans done through CCTV cameras is negligible. From this it appears that the drivers in the city have stopped breaking the traffic rules. It may also happen that most of these CCTV cameras are lying closed or they have been switched off intentionally. Only the Traffic Department can give the answer.
