In a very similar incident, a step brother attempted to kill his step sister by slashing her throat. Fortunately, the victim sustained only superficial cut and no vital vein or nerve was severed. The victim was saved by the doctors.

According to police sources, the victim identified as Mitali Ranveer Chauhan had taken her bath and had come out from the bathroom. The accused, her step brother, identified as Ritvij Ranveer Chauhan, had just woken up from his sleep. He sat speaking to her, at this his step sister Mitali admonished him and said that he should also rise up early in the morning, take bath, comb his hair, wear good clothes and look fresh. However, the step brother did not take her admonishing in the right spirit and took a kitchen knife and slashed her throat.
However, hearing her cry, the neighbours arrived and rushed her to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital. The attending doctors checked her wounds and found that the victim girl had only sustained superficial cut and no vital vein or nerve was severed in the attack by the brother.
Meanwhile on receipt of information, the cops from Panchpaoli Police Station including the In-Charge of Panchpaoli Police Station Senior Police Inspector Bahadure, Police Sub Inspector Rathore and staff rushed to the crime scene. To their surprise, the accused had not run away. He was standing at that very spot where he had attacked his sister. They took him to Panchpaoli Police Station.
The complainant identified as Ranveer Chauhan and his little daughter Chinmayi had rushed to the bleeding victim Mitali. It was they and the neighbours who had called the ambulance and rushed the victim to IGGMCH.
Sources claimed that the victim’s father had two wives. While the accused was the son of the first wife, the victim was the daughter from the second wife. Sources added that the accused was mentally unstable at times. The victim’s father is said to have worked with Akashwani and had retired a few years ago.
The Panchpaoli Police has registered a case against the accused step-brother under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code.
