Nagpur News : Infuriated with the negligent attitude of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) administration, the members of Students Organisation of Nagpur University (STON) protested in front of RTMNU’s administrative building situated at Maharajbagh on Wednesday.
More than 200 students took part in the agitation and put forward various demands including conduction of special exam, reduction in exam fees, timely declaration of results and many more issues concerning the welfare of students. “When we went on hunger strike, the varsity officials assured us that they will take serious cognisance of our demands. However, even after three months, none of our demands were considered by the officials,” lamented the students.
When the students met RTMNUs pro-vice chancellor, he assured them that the special examination will be conducted during the summer 2014 examinations. The students threatened to intensify their protest if RTMNU officials fail to keep their words.
No date fixed for academic council meeting yet: The varsity is yet to fix a date for the academic council meeting which was delayed due to the protests held on Sunday. The members had turned aggressive over the issue of appointment of a permanent teacher stating that one lecturer will not be sufficient. Sources said that a decision can only be taken when senior RTMNU officials conduct a meeting.
