Nagpur: A child was mauled by stray dogs in Besa area of Nagpur on Tuesday, sending shock waves among the citizens. Off late, with no action on part of authorities, the menace of stray dogs has increased in the Besa-Beltarodi area. Although urbanisation is spreading at a rapid pace, there are many patches of vacant plots.
Arjun Pandey, an 8-year old boy, a resident of Akhil Vishwa Bharti Society, was passing by the road when he was attacked by stray dogs. The boy was attacked by a pack of dogs and only after people intervened that the lad was saved. He is in stable condition now.
Kalpana Suke, ex-Member, Gram Panchayat, said that the boy suffered multiple wounds on his leg and hands. She has said in the past that many complaints about stray dog menace were made to Nagar Parishad officials but no action has been taken as of yet.
