Nagpur: A 23-year-old student has been booked for allegedly raping a 20-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her under the jurisdiction of Dhantoli police station.

According to information, the 20-year-old met the accused Sharad Surjit Dhanwal, a resident of Chokhamela Hostel, Quarter No. 2, Dikshabhoomi Square in the year 2013. Their friendship grew and later turned into a love affair. The accused promised the victim to marry her and later raped her repeatedly. But, he soon refused to marry her.

On the basis of the victim’s complaint, Dhantoli police have booked the accused under Sections 376 of the IPC. Further investigations are under way.
