A TEENAGE boy from Wathoda in Nagpur area committed suicide after failing to get a good rank in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) on Wednesday.
The deceased, Bhavesh Tejusingh Rathod was a native of Pimpri Forest area, taluka Karanja (Lad), district Washim. Bhavesh was staying in a rented room at the house of Leeladhar Rathod at Plot No 83, Shiv Sunder Nagar, Wathoda. Around 4 am, he was found hanging from the ceiling hook with a rope. His landlord and neighbours brought Bhavesh down and rushed him to Government Medical College & Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead.’
Wathoda Police visited the spot and found a suicide note in his room. Prima facie, police said, Bhavesh was depressed for scoring low marks and took the extreme step. Police said that they have registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and are conducting further investigation.
On Tuesday, when the results of the NEET-UG exam for admission to medical colleges were announced, Bhavesh scored 588 marks out of a total 720, said the police official. Upset over the lower-than-expected marks, the teenager killed himself, the official said. Sub-inspector Ravindra Chavan said a “suicide” note was found in Bhavesh’s room which cited his disappointment over the low marks for the extreme step.
