Enraged over allowing admission despite ban, a group of around 30-40 students lodged a police complaint against the management of Mahalakshmi Jagdamba college being run at Jhansi Rani Square. These students were given admission in the first year course of Master in Fashion Design (MFD) despite the ban on admissions imposed on this college by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU).

The students alleged that the college authorities did not provide the admission cards for the first semester of MFD, despite charging examination fees and even late fees in most of the cases. They were not supplied with any receipt for the fees. Earlier the college had also collected full tuition fees from these students.
