Sudden Weather Change After Cyclone Hits Andhra Pradesh Coast
The depression formed over the Bay of Bengal reached the Visakhapatnam coast on Saturday evening and later hit Andhra Pradesh. This caused an abrupt change in weather conditions, resulting in moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms in some districts of Vidarbha.
Nagpur also experienced heavy rain with thunderstorms on Saturday night, and an Orange Alert is in place for the next 48 hours. Temperatures are expected to drop, providing some relief from the heat and humidity for the next two days. The weather may remain cool on Sunday and Monday.
Heavy Rainfall May Cause Havoc in Some Districts
Districts such as Yavatmal, Gadchiroli, Washim, and Akola in Vidarbha are expected to face severe rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, the depression’s movement towards the south will primarily affect these areas, with warnings of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Residents near rivers and streams have been advised to remain vigilant.
Residents Suffered From Heat All Day
On Saturday, Nagpur residents struggled with sweltering heat and humidity throughout the day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 34.5°C, 3.2 degrees above average, while the minimum was 24.4°C. Clear skies and bright sunshine led to a rise in temperature, with the low humidity making the heat feel even more intense. The intense weather caused discomfort throughout the day, but the evening rain brought much-needed relief to the residents.
