Nagpur: The Second Capital of the State experienced ‘Sun’day on May 14. The maximum temperature in Nagpur soared to 44.3 degrees Celsius, which was this summer’s highest so far. There appears to be no relief from summer scorching as the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 42/43 degrees Celsius till May 20.
Over the past few days, entire Vidarbha region has been witnessing high maximum temperature. On ‘Sun’day too, Akola stayed on top in Vidarbha region recording maximum temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius. With this, it was the ninth hottest place on Earth and the hottest place in the region on Sunday. It was closely followed by Amravati with a maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius. Wardha with 44.9 degrees Celsius was the third hottest place in the region.
Nagpur was fourth hottest with a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, all major places in Vidarbha region recorded a maximum temperature above 40 degrees Celsius. Buldana with 40.8 degrees Celsius had the lowest maximum temperature.
In Nagpur, the maximum temperature recorded on Sunday marked 1.6 degrees change as compared to that on Saturday. Even the minimum temperature was higher in Akola (28.6 degrees Celsius), Buldana (28.2 degrees Celsius). Nagpur recorded minimum temperature at 23.2 degrees Celsius, which marked 1.4 degrees change over Saturday.
However, considering the average minimum temperature for this period in the month, Nagpur’s minimum temperature on Sunday marked a drop by 4.3 degrees Celsius. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) predicted partly cloudy sky till May 20 with maximum temperature hovering around 42/43 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature is likely to stay around 27/28 deg Celsius.
