Nagpur: Shocking details have emerged in the murder case of Sunita Omkar Raut (54), a resident of Mitra Nagar. Sunita’s daughter-in-law, Vaishali Akhilesh Raut (33), had threatened her cousin brothers — who are now murder accused — by warning them that she would implicate them in a suicide case if they did not kill her mother-in-law.

She also locked the doors of the house when her cousin brothers arrived on the night of August 26. A senior police official revealed that Vaishali had been planning the murder of her mother-in-law Sunita Raut for almost a year and frequently complained to her cousins and parents about Sunita. This was her way of annoying her relatives and creating a negative impression of Sunita.

After finalising the murder plan, Vaishali had sent Rs 60,000 online to Shrikant Narendra Hiwse (21) and later phoned them. She threatened him during the conversation that if they would not murder Sunita, then she will commit suicide and write their names in the suicide note. As a result, the brother panicked and came to Nagpur on the night of August 26. When they entered the house, Vaishali locked the doors from the inside to prevent the cousins from fleeing.

The details have shocked the police, as they cannot fathom how a woman could devise such a diabolic conspiracy against an elderly woman. Even in police custody, Vaishali did not show any remorse. She maintained that her sister-in-law was responsible for the crime and claimed she had been falsely implicated in the case.

It may be mentioned that on the night of August 28, Ritesh Hiwse (27) and Shrikant Hiwse(21), both cousins of Vaishali and residents of Madhya Pradesh, strangled Sunita while she was sleeping and staged the crime to appear as a natural death. The investigation uncovered that the motive behind the gruesome crime was Rs 60 lakh in cash and property.
