Nagpur: In the bustling city of Nagpur, a tale of resilience unfolds as a 35-year-old CISF personnel, dedicatedly patrolling the Airport quarters during the night, faces an unexpected adversary – a venomous snake bite on his right foot. The unfolding drama is met with swift and coordinated action, orchestrated by Shri. Sachin Gaikwad, a CISF Reserve Inspector, and the agile response of Team Orange, led by Shri. Prashant Tichkule, ensuring seamless arrangements before the patient’s urgent transfer to Orange City Hospital.
As the doors of the hospital’s Emergency Room welcomed the distressed personnel, his complaints of chest tightness and pain in the right foot echoed. Recognizing the gravity of a potential snakebite, the patient was swiftly whisked away to the Critical Care Unit (CCU). Inside the CCU, a rapid deterioration ensued, revealing signs of respiratory distress, hinting at a possible encounter with the elusive King Cobra. Dr. Mohit Gharpure, the vigilant Intensivist, sprang into action, resuscitating and skillfully intubating the patient.
The narrative then unfolds within the confines of the ICU, where Dr. Hemant Waghmare, an expert in Internal Medicine, took charge. Ventilator support became the lifeline, and a dedicated team, including Dr. Aves Hasan (Medical Officer) and nurses Sr. Prachita, Sr. Jaya, and Sr. Rimeshwari, collaborated seamlessly during this critical juncture. The administration of Anti-Snake Venom (ASV) commenced promptly, accompanied by a strategic protocol of supportive treatments. Under the meticulous care of Dr. Rajesh Atal, Senior Critical Care Physician, the patient emerged victorious, returning to duty without the haunting shadows of neurological deficits or sequelae from the venomous encounter.
Shri. Jitender Singh Rathore, Deputy Commandant, CISF (ASG) Nagpur, expressed heartfelt gratitude, lauding Team Orange City Hospital for their unwavering service to CISF officers and their families. Shri. Suresh Thorat, CHM CISF, paid a visit, extending appreciation to the Emergency Care Team for their swift and timely management.
In a poignant moment, Dr. Usha Nair, the visionary Managing Director, emphasized the critical importance of eschewing home remedies. She urged locals to maintain an immobile position with a tourniquet application when faced with a snake bite. Orange City Hospital emerged as a beacon of hope, armed not only with the expertise of 24×7 stationed Critical Care specialists but also as a private Critical Care Centre with advanced ASV treatment.
