Nagpur: Tainted BJP corporator Jagdish Gwalbanshi, who has been caught in the land grab row has now jumped in self-defence. In a press release, he claimed that he has been framed by the police who have registered different cases against him following frivolous complaints of plot owners who claimed that their lands have been grabbed by him. He was also set to address a press conference at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan, but later cancelled it saying that his party did not give a nod to it.
Gwalbanshi claimed that Part 2 Makardhokda and Jagdish Nagar slums were already existing prior to 1984. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation officially recognized the slums in 1984.
Gwalbanshi has also claimed that several private societies had cropped up along the two slums where plots were divided for sale under different layouts. Gwalbanshi has claimed that several buyers opted to stay away from their plots for prolonged period which allowed encroachment. He added d that he had discouraged encroachers but plot owners suffered because of their own mistake.
Gwalbanshi claimed that many complainants are approaching police against him and his family hoping to get their land back, which is ruining his political image
