Tainted PI Kale gets a day’s PCR

Nagpur: Police inspector (PI) Subhash Kale of Kuhi police station, who was nabbed on Wednesday after escaping from the custody of State Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths, was produced before the special court on Thursday.

The court granted one-day custody of Kale to the ACB cops to probe his alleged role in accepting Rs two lakhs bribe from an eatery owner at Pachgaon on Tuesday.

The court granted bail to sub-inspector Sanjay Chavan, who was also nabbed during the action, after hearing the arguments of prosecution and defence counsels.

PI Kale had fled on the pretext of changing uniform. He was nabbed from a spot at Congress Nagar. ACB sleuths had argued for four-day PCR of Kale citing various reasons, including collection of voice samples to match with the specimen recorded when he demanded the bribe. ACB had also registered an offence against Kale for fleeing from custody.
