According to the police, at around 1 am on Saturday, Abhilash and Ruchika were going to Wardha from Nagpur in their Tata Nexon SUV (MH-32/AS-4009). Due to traffic closure on the Butibori flyover, Abhilash chose to take the Samruddhi Expressway to avoid the congestion. He was heading towards the Samruddhi Circle from the Outer Ring Road. Near the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Abhilash’s car collided with a truck.

The truck driver (KA-01/AK-2868) had attempted a U-turn. Abhilash, driving at high speed, was unable to control the car due to the sudden turn taken by the truck and crashed into it from behind. The right side of the car was severely damaged, and the roof was shattered due to the impact. Ruchika, who was seated on the other side, was not seriously injured as her airbag deployed after the crash.

Passers-by rushed to help, and the police were immediately informed. Hingna Police arrived at the scene, and an ambulance soon followed. Abhilash and Ruchika were transported to AIIMS, where doctors declared Abhilash dead after examining him. The police have registered a case against the truck driver and initiated an investigation.

A police official stated that Ruchika, a resident of Nagpur, had married Abhilash, the son of a bullion businessman in Wardha, just two months earlier. The couple frequently travelled to Nagpur on weekends. They had planned a grand celebration for Makar Sankranti, their first festival together after marriage. Abhilash and Ruchika had come to Nagpur for shopping in preparation for the celebration.

Ruchika and entire family are deeply shocked by the incident. They never imagined that the festivities they had planned would turn into a tragedy.
