Nagpur: In yet another hit-and-run incident on Tuesday morning, an 18-year-old boy lost his life due to severe head injuries after being struck by a recklessly-driven motor vehicle in the Nandanvan area. The incident occurred on the road stretch between Sangharsh Nagar Square and Prajapati Square.
Identified as Akshat Amol Ambagade, the deceased was a resident of Telipura, Pardi. Akshat was riding his Honda Activa (MH-49/X3541) back home after dropping his younger sister at St Xavier’s High School, Hiwari Nagar, around 7.30 am. As he passed by a country liquor shop on the road between Sangharsh Nagar Square and Prajapati Square, a speeding vehicle hit his scooter, causing him to fall and suffer critical head injuries. The motor vehicle driver sped away fearing arrest.
Akshat was rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital but on the way, he succumbed to his injuries. Following a complaint lodged by Himanshu Sanjay Ambagade, a relative of the deceased, Nandanvan Police registered a case under Sections 106(2), 128, 125(a), 125(b), 324(4), 324(4), 324 (5) of the BNS, read with Sections 134(a), 134(b) and 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act, and initiated a probe to track down the driver responsible.
In another incident, an 18-year-old boy was killed in a freak accident after he came under a truck late Monday night at Jaistambh Square. The deceased has been identified as Sarthak Agrawal, a resident of Mahavir Nagar. Cops said Agrawal was riding on his moped when an auto gave him a close cut. Agrawal lost his balance and came under the wheels of a truck.
