Teenager killed, cousin, nephew injured as truck hits bike in Nagpur

Nagpur: A teenage boy was killed and his cousin and nephew sustained injuries after a speeding truck hit them in the Nandanvan area of Nagpur on Monday morning. The trucker fled the spot fearing public wrath.

The deceased, Yash Vinayak Kumre (17) was a resident of Sindivihiri, taluka Umrer. His cousin Ishwar Ankush Parteki (31) and nephew Anveet (3), also the residents of Sindivihiri, were injured in the mishap.

Ishwar, Anveet and Yash were returning to their village on a motorcycle (MH-40/AY-2347) around 9 am. Near Sheetla Mata Mandir on Umrer Road in Nandanvan area, a rashly driven truck (MH-40/AY-2347) hit the bike. Ishwar, Anveet and Yash fell off the bike. Yash received serious injuries. The truck driver fled the spot after the accident. Yash was rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Ishwar and his son Anveet were being treated in the hospital.

Nandanvan Police launched a search for the trucker after registering a case under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 134, 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act, against him.

Meanwhile, a youth was crushed to death by a speeding tractor near Chhatrapati Square on Wardha road on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Gaurav Pasare (24), a resident of Snehal Nagar, Hudkeshwar. Gaurav was travelling on a two-wheeler (MH49/BX-1658) at 8.30 am on Sunday. A tractor hit a moped at old Coca Cola Factory Square near Chhatrapati Square and he fell on the road-divider, sustaining grievous head injuries. After the accident, the driver escaped with the tractor.

Pratap Nagar police rushed to the spot and sent profusely bleeding Pasare to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The police have registered a case in the matter.
