Nagpur: Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Nagpur Police arrested notorious cheat Mohammad Jawad Farooq Bora who along with his accomplices had allegedly duped a Nagpur woman of Rs 1 crore by promising her high returns in an investment scheme.
Mohammad Jawad Farooq Bora alias Suleman alias Bharat (34), a resident of Room No 02, Casa Maxima, Kashimira, Mira Road, Thane, was arrested with the assistance of Mira Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police from GCC Hotel. Police seized incriminating documents, a cash counting machine, two cell phones and a Maruti Baleno car collectively worth Rs 8.63 lakh from his residential premises.

EOW officers produced Nohamad Jawad before the court and obtained remand for his custodial interrogation till January 13. So far, EOW has seized property worth Rs 16.63 lakh from him.
Mohammad Jawad, in connivance with Deepankar Sarkar, Amjad Khan, Mandar Aniruddha Kolte (Nagpur), Chandrashekhar Ramteke, Pandurang Isarkar, Pramod Kude, Pradeep, Suraj Vishnupada Dey (Mumbai), Mangesh alias Dinesh Vaman Patekar (Mumbai), Bharat Suleman, Aman Pande and Raju Mandal allegedly operated a Trade Profit Fund scheme and lured the complainant Swati from Nagpur to invest Rs 1 crore cash and promised her profit of Rs 50 lakh.
After receiving the investment, the accused started evading the complainant. When she contacted them, they threatened her of dire consequences. Following the victim’s complaint, a case under Sections 420,406,120(B), 506, 34 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the fraudsters at Dhantoli Police Station. Cops had arrested accused Suraj Dey, Mandar Kolte and Mangesh Patekar. The EOW officers had seized a T VS e-moped worth Rs 1.60 lakh from a suspect named Vidya Nagpure. Similarly, Cops had seized a Toyota Fortuner SUV worth Rs 25 lakh from accused Suraj Dey.
Accused Mohammad Jawad Farooq Bora was arrested by API Sagar Awhad, ASI Sanjay Sonone, HC Bhagwan Budhwant, PCs Rahul Thakur, Ravindra Jadhav and WPC Avikshani Bhagat under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Aswati Dorje, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil and DCP (EoW ) Archit Chandak.
Further investigations in the case are being carried out by API Sagar Awhad.
