Nagpur: It’s wedding season and the thieves are eyeing the marriage venues as soft targets. This was quite evident when thefts took place at three different wedding venues where valuables to the tune of Rs 2,17,200 were reportedly stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday.
In first incident, a 34-year-old complainant Himanshu Kishor Khupchandnani resident of Sindhu Nagar Society had gone to attend a wedding in Lambha Celebration venue on Tuesday, under the jurisdiction Yashodhara Nagar police, when some unidentified miscreant stole his bag comprising credit cards, mobile phone and cash.
Following his complaint, Yashodhara police have registered a case under section 379 of IPC.
In another incident at Talmale Mangal Karyalaya a hand bag comprising goods worth Rs 47,000 was stolen on Wednesday afternoon under the jurisdiction Pratap Nagar police station.
As per the details, complainant Ankush Anant Ashtaputre (43) resident of 343, HB Estate, Sonegaon was at her cousin’s wedding. When the ceremony was going on, she kept her bag on the chair near her and was talking to her relatives when someone lifted her bag and fled from there.
Pratap Nagar police have registered a case under section 380 of IPC and started the investigation.
In third case reported under the jurisdiction of Koradi police station, a middle aged woman of Chandrapur was relieved of her bag at Bharat Celebration Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
The thieves managed to get their hands on a bag placed on the stage, while the complainant identified as Ashwini Ashok Mahendrakar (52) was busy meeting the newly wed couple.
