Mumbai/Nagpur: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Ashok Chavan has termed the State Budget as “raining of only announcements.”
Compared to the announcements there are very less provisions.
“It is kind of offering ‘Prasad’ to the Gods. The Budget lacked measures to deal with the natural disasters that have ravaged the farmers. On the other hand, the Budget has underlined its escape route rather than facing the burning problems,” reacted the MPCC President.
“The Budget is misleading and deceitful. There is no simple mention of Dalits, OBC, Adivasis in this Budget.
The Government only sings the debt ridden Maharashtra tune but no steps are taken to increase revenue.
The Finance Minister has tactfully avoided answer to the decline of growth rate to 5.5 percent in the 138-day rule of BJP-Shiv Sena Government when the growth rate of 8-10 percent was achieved continuously during the 15-year rule of Congress-NCP Government.
There is no provision for people-oriented projects. Farmers and rural people are disappointed. Farmers’ suicides have increased,” said Chavan.
