After arresting Kantha, the leads were thoroughly investigated by the police, who are now gathering technical data against him. The report has claimed that the number of accused is likely to increase after the law enforcement agency invokes the UAPA against Kantha.

Kantha, who is a murder convict, was brought to Nagpur on March 28 from a jail in Belagavi city of Karnataka. He is accused of making threat calls to Gadkari’s public relations office on two occasions. On January 14, he made a call to the Minister’s office, demanding Rs 100 crore and claiming to be a member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang. Then, on March 21, he made another call to the office, threatening to harm Gadkari if Rs 10 crore was not paid.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar camped at the Dhantoli Police Station on Wednesday where the accused Kantha has been lodged, and after arresting Kantha, the leads were thoroughly investigated by the police, who are now gathering technical data against him. A team of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials arrived at the police station and questioned Kantha with the help of a language translator. After recording his statements, the officials left the police station. The police are continuing their investigation, and more details are expected to emerge in coming days.

Overall, this is a significant development in the case, and the involvement of the UAPA suggests that the police may have found strong evidence of Kantha’s involvement in the threat calls and his connections to the Dawood Ibrahim gang. The increased security at Gadkari’s home and office highlights the seriousness of the threats made, and the ongoing investigation will likely shed more light on the matter in the coming days.
