Three goons held for looting driver near Jaistambh Square

Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police arrested three goons, who had looted a cell phone from the driver of a 13-seater Tata Winger van and fled with his vehicle on Thursday. Cops traced the Tata Winger (MH-40/BL-2378) using a GPS tracking system and took the accused trio into custody.

Cops seized the van worth Rs 17.50 lakh from them. Police also recovered a Honda Activa (MH-31/ES-1712) worth Rs 50,000 used by them for committing the crime. The accused have been identified as Mohit alias Chutkya Sayaji Shrimant (26), Pawan alias Chhotu Kisan Gedam (22), both residents of Khalasi Line, Mohan Nagar, and Umesh alias Ammu Manoj Paisadeli (25), a resident of Railway Quarter, near Mangal Mandap, Kamptee Road.

Accused Umesh Paisadeli is a history-sheeter. Prakash Hari Majhi (27) works as a driver at Hexaware Technologies Ltd, MIHAN. Around 3 am on Thursday, he was returning to MIHAN after dropping an employee at Mohan Nagar. Near Jaistambh Square on the flyover, the three moped-borne accused blocked his van. Two of them abducted him in his own van. They then abandoned him at a distance and sped away.

Soon after receiving the complaint from Majhi, police registered a case under Sections 341,365,392 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. A team comprising API Santosh Kadam, PSI Vinod Tiwari, HC Omprakash Bharatiya, HCVishal Ankar and PC Vijay Dandi, under the supervision of Senior PI Atul Sabnis, traced the van and arrested the accused within eight hours of the incident.
