The Fateh Kadal encounter has been reported just a few days after a militant was killed in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said.
Upon receiving information about the presence of militants, the security forces including troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police, surrounded Babgund village.
Before Pulwama, at least two terrorists were killed during an encounter with police and security forces in Handwara. The encounter began when a cordon and search operation was launched by the security forces at Shartgund Bala area of Qalamabad.
During the search operation, the hiding terrorists fired on the search party leading to the encounter. Consequently, the civilians in the nearby areas were evacuated.
