Toddler killed as unidentified hits her in Nandanvan

Nagpur: A two and half year-old baby girl met with a tragic end after being knocked down by a speeding four wheeler while the baby jumped in the middle of the street to pick an orange that fell from her hands.

The incident happened in Shrikrishna Nagar under Nandanvan police station on Wednesday.

Police sources said Nidhi was eating oranges outside her Shrikrishna Nagar based house on Wednesday afternoon.

At around 3.30 pm, an orange fall from her hand and rolled down in the middle of the road. The baby then ran to the middle of the road and suddenly got hit by a a recklessly driven vehicle. The unidentified vehicle reportedly dashed Nidhi, causing her death.

Based on the complaint lodged by Nidhi’s mother, Savita Brijmohan Patel (35), Nandanvan police have booked the accused driver under Section 279, 304 (A) read with 134, 177 of the Maharashtra Motor Act and started the probe.
