Tom Alter, known for a career straddling films, TV and theatre, is currently battling cancer.
The 67-year-old actor was admitted to Saifee Hospital in Mumbai on Monday following a relapse of a squamous cell carcinoma, his family told media.
Media reported that Alter is suffering from stage four bone cancer and that his family refused to divulge more details about the actor’s condition.
Alter is currently undergoing treatment and is under supervision at the hospital.
In 1977, Alter formed the theatre group called Motley Productions along with Naseeruddin Shah and Benjamin Gilani. He has been quite active on stage all his life.
Alter’s vast oeuvre includes films like Parinda, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Kranti and others. He was last seen on the big screen in this year’s Sargoshiyan, that received mixed reviews from critics.
