Nagpur: Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ravinder Singal, took a proactive role in law enforcement by personally apprehending a notorious individual involved in multiple serious crimes. This marks a significant event as it is believed to be the first instance of the Commissioner himself taking such direct action.
The apprehended individual has been identified as Mohsin alias Guddu Akhtar Mohammad Julfiqar Akhtar. He hails from Teka, Nai Basti, Azad Nagar, Pachpaoli.
Dr. Singal was returning to his office after conducting visits to sensitive and hypersensitive areas in Nagpur. While on the road connecting Aakashvani Square and GPO Square, he observed two young men recklessly riding a Honda Activa without headgear, violating traffic rules.
Reacting promptly to the traffic violation, Dr. Singal instructed his driver to block the violators. Upon stopping them, he personally assessed the situation and found Mohsin Akhtar’s behaviour suspicious.
Dr. Singal conducted a preliminary investigation, revealing that Mohsin Akhtar was a known anti-social element with eight criminal cases registered against him. These cases encompass a range of offenses, including bodily harm and property-related crimes. The Commissioner’s direct involvement underscores the seriousness of the individual’s criminal record.
Following the on-spot assessment, Mohsin Akhtar was handed over to the Sitabuldi Police for further investigation. This ensures that due legal process will be followed in handling the case.
