Nagpur: In response to a Right to Information (RTI) application, the Traffic Division, Nagpur Police at Lakadganj, Nagpur has clarified that it does not have the authorization to use mobile phones for photographing traffic rule violators.
The information was provided in a letter dated July 20, 2024, addressed to Mr. Tilak Khangar. The RTI application, submitted on July 10, 2024, inquired about whether the traffic police in Lakadganj had received any senior office authorization to capture images of traffic violators using mobile phones.
According to the response from the Senior Police Inspector of the Traffic Division, no such authorization has been granted. The division emphasized that their current procedures do not include mobile phone photography for enforcement purposes.
This clarification is significant as it addresses concerns about the methods employed by traffic authorities in monitoring and enforcing traffic regulations.
