Nagpur: Shocking news has emerged from the swimming pool of the Nagpur Improvement Trust’s (NIT) Ambazari precinct, where a young man drowned on Tuesday night. The victim has been identified as Kunal Kishor Salpekar (36), who was a lecturer at NIT.

According to reports, Salpekar had been visiting the pool regularly for the past two months. Every night at around 8 PM, he would go there for swimming practice. On the fateful night, he was holding onto a rope in the pool and descending into the water. However, when he reached the bottom and the lifeguards did not notice any movement from him, they pulled him out. Despite efforts to revive him, it was too late. Medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival.

The incident has been reported to the Bajajnagar Police Station, who have registered it as an accidental death. This has raised questions about the functioning of the NIT swimming pool administration. Despite lifeguards being present, the occurrence of such an incident has led to expressions of concern.
