Nagpur: In a heart-wrenching incident in the Hudkeshwar area on Wednesday, a woman riding a moped lost her life in a hit-and-run accident. The victim, identified as Kajal Abhijit Gaidhane (30), residing at Plot No 10, Sacchidanand Nagar, near NIT Garden, Hudkeshwar, was traveling on her moped with registration number MH-31/AW-4536 towards Manewada Chowk from Tukdoji Chowk around 12:30 pm.
Tragedy struck when a speeding, unidentified vehicle collided with her in front of Vairagade Hospital. Kajal was thrown off the moped, sustaining serious injuries to her head and face. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene to evade arrest. Kajal was immediately rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital, where the medical professionals declared her brought dead.

Following the incident, the Hudkeshwar Police recorded the statement of Abhijit Gaidhane (37), the husband of the deceased, and registered a case under Sections 279 and 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code. The charges are further accompanied by Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act. An investigation into the tragic hit-and-run is currently underway.
