Nagpur: A woman passenger suddenly started having labour pain during a train journey. With assistance of her relatives and co-passengers, the woman ultimately gave birth to a healthy male child. This incident occurred between Sewagram and Nagpur. As soon as the train reached Nagpur, Railway Police personnel also came forward to help.
In the aftermath of a thorough medical examination conducted by a doctor, when everything seemed to be normal, the woman was given a green signal as far as proceeding with the journey along with her relatives was concerned.
Preeti Pradeep Kumar (22) a native of Etawah had gone to Hyderabad with her husband Pradeep Kumar, brother-in-law and his wife. The family stayed there for some work. Here Preeti became pregnant. When the time of delivery loomed large, all these people left for Gwalior in the general bogie of Telangana Express. When the train arrived in Ballarshah, Preeti started having labour pains. She especially started having unbearable pain from Sewagram onwards. Relatives and co-passengers took Preeti to the door of the coach and helped in conducting her delivery. They covered the spot with a bedsheet and cloth. Preeti soon gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Railway Police personnel got information about the incident from the substation manager’s office. In such a situation, Rita Raut, Veena Bhalavi and Pranali Chatarkar of Railway Police entered the concerned train compartment as soon as the train arrived in Nagpur. Dr Ansar Sayyad examined the infant and his mother. After this Preeti proceeded with the remaining part of the journey with her child and her relatives.
