Nagpur: Swift action by Nagpur Police resulted in the arrest of a truck driver who allegedly kidnapped a minor girl from the Hudkeshwar area and took her in his vehicle early Tuesday morning. Cops rescued the girl from the kidnapper, who was found with the 12-year-old victim at an uninhabited place, and seized his truck.
Identified as Maheshkumar Sukhmant Shahu (28), the accused is a resident of Ghogli, Besa Road, Beltarodi. The minor girl was found missing from her house around 7.15 am. Her elder sister, who is 18-year-old, immediately informed Hudkeshwar Police. After she told the police that she had a doubt that her younger sister was taken in a truck (CG-04/PC-5974), Hudkeshwar Police informed the Control Room about it.
Soon, separate teams of Crime Branch’s Unit-4, Beltarodi and Hudkeshwar Police Stations swung into action. During the joint search, cops found the truck parked on Ensaara City Road. While searching the nearby area, police found the kidnapper standing with the victim at an uninhabited place. Cops surrounded the kidnapper and nabbed him.
Hudkeshwar Police registered a case under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused truck driver.
The arrest was made by PI Ramesh Tale, PSI Avinash Jaybhay, Head Constables Nasir Shaikh, Satish Thakre, Nilesh Dhone, Purshottam Kalmegh, NPC Purushottam Jagnade (all from Unit-4), API Pankaj Kakde, PSI Kishor Malokar, police constables Askash Pawar (Beltarodi), Naresh Dawre, Aatish Bothalkar and Umesh Waghmare (Hudkeshwar) under the supervision of DCP (Detection) Nimit Goyal and DCP (Zone-4) Vijaykant Sagar.
