Two caught red-handed filling domestic LPG gas in auto at Kamptee

Nagpur: Cops attached to Unit-05 of Nagpur Crime Branch caught two persons red-handed in Kamptee while refilling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in an auto-rickshaw from cylinders meant for domestic consumption.

Cops seized 13 LPG cylinders meant for domestic consumption worth Rs 39,000, a Bajaj Maxima auto-rickshaw (MH-49/AR-6942) fitted with LPG kit worth Rs 2.50 lakh, two gas refilling machines worth Rs 12,000, a weighing machine worth Rs 5000, a cell phone and Rs 600 cash from them.

The accused are Nadeem Akhtar Naeem Akhtar (19), a resident of New Kamptee, near Bhoyar College and Ashwin Devnath Bansode (38), a resident of Ramgad, Anand Nagar. They were operating the racket of refilling gas into commercial vehicles as fuel at Sailab Nagar near Nagpur-Kolkata railway line. Another accused, Shaikh Ifteqar alias Golu, is at large.

A case under Sections 283, 285, 336, 34 of the IPC, read with Sections 3,7 of the Essential Commodities Act, has been registered against Nadeem Akhtar, Ashwin Bansode and Shaikh Ifteqar at New Kamptee Police Station. The arrests were made by PI Rahul Shire, PSI Ashish Kohale, PSI Ashishsingh Thakur and others under the supervision of senior Crime Branch officers.
