Nagpur: Two cyclists were killed in two separate road accidents that took place under jurisdiction of Jaripatka and Ambazari police stations on Sunday.
In the first incident, a recklessly driven truck knocked an unknown cyclist dead on Sunday. As per information, an unidentified truck (MH 31 CB 2088) was driving his truck at a neck-breaking speed at around 6.55 pm on Sunday. Between Maruti Showroom Square and Kamptee Road, the truck hit an unidentified cyclist. The cyclist was killed on the spot with the impact of the accident. Fearing public wrath, the truck driver left the truck on the spot and fled away. Onlookers informed Jaripatka police who rushed to the spot. Cops performed panchanama and sent the body for post mortem to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, cops have registered an offence under Sections 279, 304 (a), 338 of the IPC read with sub sections 134 and 177 of Motor Vehicle Act.
In another incident, the accident victim succumbed to his injuries while he was being rushed to the hospital. The accident occurred between Campus Square and Amravati Road at around 7.15 pm on Sunday.
According to information, the unknown person was riding his cycle when a speeding white coloured four-wheeler car bearing number (MH 19 P 01) hit the 25-year-old cyclist in front of a street light poll with number BC D108E/9 and injured him severely. The driver zoomed away from the spot. Onlookers rushed in to help and took the youth a hospital. He was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital. However, he was declared dead by the doctors of GMCH.
Ambazari police have registered an offence under Sections 279, 338, 304 (a) of the IPC read with sub sections 134 and 177 of Motor Vehicle Act and booked the accused car driver.
