Nagpur: Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari has again cracked a whip against erring employees of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) as on Tuesday, he suspended two of them.
The two suspended employees are Nilesh Sambare and Rupesh Thute. While Sambare was working as Junior Engineer with Garden Department of NMC under Public Works Department (PWD) at Dhantoli Zone, Thute is Assistant Tax Surveyor at Gandhibagh Zone. The two were marked out for dereliction of duty and hence suspended from the service by Municipal Commissioner under Rule 179 of Maharashtra Civic Service Rules (Discipline and Appeals).
During the suspension period, Sambare has been attached to the office of Chief Engineer, PWD, NMC, at Civil Lines and the Commissioner said the entry be made in the service book as to suspension. The Municipal Commissioner has been strict about observance of discipline and following rules and more particularly about completing the allotted work. As the two employees were found to be not complying with office orders, the matter was taken-up in all seriousness and hence their suspension was ordered.
There has been tremendous pressure on the civic body to deliver on the services to citizens and all works are being regularly reviewed on a periodic basis. Earlier, also soon after taking over reins of NMC, Municipal Commissioner had suspended two engineers at Laxmi Nagar Zone following lapses in supervision of a development work in the constituency of Deputy Chief Minister in the city. The fresh lot of suspension is a signal to the NMC workforce to pull-up their socks and deliver or face the music.
