Gondia: In a heart-wrenching incident that took place on Wednesday, January 4 at village Chandrapur Toli farm complex in Post Katangi of Goregaon tehsil of Gondia district, two men died on the spot after getting electrocuted by electric wires laid for hunting wild animals in the field. The two deceased were reportedly hunters.
According to police sources, the incident occurred between midnight on January 3 and 7 am on January 4. The incident took place at the cut-off reservoir under the Goregaon police station, where wild animals often come in search of drinking water. The deceased, Sampat Asaram Walthare (45) and Ghanshyam Nago Walthare (29), residents of Ward No. 3 of Chandrapur Toli, entered the jungle area of this forest with snares made from wires and bamboo used for hunting purposes.
High voltage 11 kw electricity lines pass through this forest area. In the morning, both deceased hunters were setting up an electric trap in the high voltage electricity wires to hunt wild boars when, at that moment, their contact with the high-voltage wires caused them to suffer a painful and tragic death.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Goregaon police and officials from the electricity department reached the spot. After conducting the spot panchnama, the bodies of both deceased individuals were sent to the district government hospital for post-mortem examination. The post-mortem report has been handed over to the relatives.
Meanwhile, based on the complaint of Budhram Asaram Walthare (50), resident of Ward No. 3, Chandrapur Toli, Tehsil Goregaon, a case under Section 304 of the IPC has been registered against the deceased Sampat Walthare and Ghanshyam Walthare.
Inspector Bhusari is overseeing the investigation, with Police Constable Dimpal Sahare assisting in the investigation.
