Two killed as tipper truck, Mahindra Maxx car collide head on near Hudkeshwar

Nagpur: Two persons – driver and co-passenger – were killed when the Mahindra Maxx car they were travelling in collided with a tipper truck head on Dighori-Umred Road on Saturday noon.

According to details, the deceased Someshwar Mahadeo Selokar (45), the driver of Mahindra Maxx car, and co-passenger Rafiq Sheikh Gulab Sheikh (45), were coming to city in their vehicle (MH-31/AP 8769) from Umred direction around 12.45 pm on Saturday.

When their vehicle reached near Aman Restaurant in front of Pandav College, a rashly driven tipper truck (MH-40/Y 9495) collided with the Maxx car head on with forceful impact. The crash left Someshwar, Rafiq and driver of Tipper truck Vijay Pralhad Thavkar (35), all residents Pachkhedi Kuhi, Nagpur, seriously injured.

All the three injured were rushed to GMCH. However, the doctors at the hospital declared Maxx driver Someshwar dead at 2 pm while Rafiq succumbed to his injuries at 6.45 pm while undergoing treatment.

Based on the information, Hudkeshwar API Wankhede has booked both the drivers under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sub-Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigations are underway.
