Two murders, 1 attempt to murder within an hour leave Nagpur police red-faced

Nagpur: Two murders and one attempt to murder in retaliation within a span of one hour in the last 24 hours left the Nagpur police red-faced. According to police both the killings and the murderous attack were reported from Yashodhara Nagar and Pachpaoli police station jurisdictions.

In the first incident, Dheeraj Nankawna Chutelkar (32), a resident of Lane No 33, Santosh Nagar, was brutally murdered by Rajesh Manik Manne (42) with a sharp-edged weapon over an old rivalry. Dheeraj’s brothers Rahul and Shubham then attacked Rajesh in retaliation, injuring him seriously.

According to police, Dheeraj, a resident of Gulshan Nagar, Kalamna, earlier used to stay at Santosh Nagar. Rajesh, who was staying in front of his house at Santosh Nagar, often used to quarrel and fight with Dheeraj over parking of vehicles. As the intensity of their rivalry increased, Rajesh shifted to Gulshan Nagar. On Tuesday late evening, Rajesh’s mother had come to a grocery shop at Santosh Nagar. After purchasing groceries, she left one of the bags at the shop. After returning home, she asked Rajesh to bring the bag from the shop.

When he went to Santosh Nagar to bring the bag, Dheeraj confronted him in front of Vighnaharta Medical Stores. After heated exchanges between them, Rajesh took out a knife and stabbed Dheeraj. He also attacked him with bricks, killing him on the spot. Dheeraj’s brothers Rahul and Shubham then attempted to kill Rajesh causing him grievous injuries.

Staff from Yashodhara Nagar Police Station rushed to the spot and sent injured Rajesh to Mayo Hospital. Later, he was referred to the Government Medical College & Hospital. A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Rajesh. Following a complaint lodged by Sheetal, wife of injured Rajesh, police registered a case under Sections 307 and 34 of the IPC against Rahul, Shubham and deceased Dheeraj.

In the second sensational incident, four anti-socials brutally killed a youth with sharp-edged knives in full public view at Panchsheel Nagar Chowk, Pachpaoli. Identified as Umesh Narendra Nandeshwar (24), the deceased was a resident of Yashodhara Nagar, near Kanji House. Cops arrested Anshul Vishnu Pande (22), Shubham Nattuji Gajbhiye (26) Akshay Bhimrao Wasnik (22), Samyak Sanjay Wasnik (25) and Kshitij Ratnadeep Lokhande (22), all residents of Adarsh Nagar, in this connection.

The accused killers had an old enmity with Umesh. Around 11 pm, Umesh was standing on the road near Matoshree Enterprises at Panchsheel Nagar Square. The five accused came and suddenly started stabbing Umesh with knives killing him on the spot. The accused then fled the spot. A profusely bleeding Umesh was rushed to Mayo Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead.’

Later, Pachpaoli police nabbed all the accused. Following a complaint lodged by Vaishali Ravi Ukey (40), sister of the deceased, Pachpaoli Police registered a case under Sections 143, 147,148,149 of the IPC, read with Sections 3 (2)(5), 3(2)(5a) of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, against the accused anti-socials.
