Two robbers who looted Amravati bullion trader nabbed in Nagpur

Nagpur/Amravati: The Crime Branch Unit-2 of Amravati City Police has arrested two members of the gang involved in robbing bullion trader and his father at gunpoint in Navsari area on September 4 from Nagpur.

The arrested accused have been identified as Gayasuddin Wahajuddin Qureshi (42), hailing from Mandhana in Pratapgarh distt of UttarPradesh,and currently staying in Mata Nagar, Godhani, Nagpur, and Mohammad Sajik Mohammad Harun, originally from Hirapur in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh and currently residing in Mankapur,Nagpur. Police made both the arrests from Nagpur.

It may be recalled that the bullion trader Arvind Javre, and his father Uttamrao Ukhadrao Javre were robbed of silver ornaments at gunpoint in Amravati. The father-son duo and another girl who had come to their rescue were allegedly assaulted by the accused. Police swung into action and launched an extensive search for the accused. While looking for the moped used in the crime, police got a clue that the accused had fled in Nagpur direction.

On getting further inputs about the accused, a police team had laid a trap in Nagpur’s Godhani area and was waiting for the accused. Finally, on Monday, police detained Gayasuddin Wahajuddin. During interrogation he confessed to the crime and also informed that the stolen bag containing silver was with Mohammad Sajik Mohammad Harun. Police then arrested Mohammad Sajik from Mankapur area of Nagpur and also seized 3 kg silver articles worth Rs 2.50 lakh from him.

According to Amravati Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, the accused GayasuddinWahajuddin is the mastermind of the robbery. “He had brought others from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh to execute the crime. The accused had stayed at Nagpur for 15 days before committing the crime. Gayasuddin and Mohammad Sajik stayed at Nagpur even after the incident while the others returned to Uttar Pradesh,” Reddy informed.

The bag containing silver articles was kept with Mohammad Sajik and the accused were about to distribute it, he added. Reddy also informed that one local person, who originally hails from Pratapgarh, had provided the tip off to the robbers. The accused had originally planned to carry out the loot 4-5 months ago but could not, said Reddy.
