Nagpur News : The chain-snatching cases have again seen a rise in the city. On Monday, two women were relieved of their gold chains collectively worth Rs 45,000.
The complainant’s wife Vibha Prakash Sharma, a resident of Pratap Nagar was returning home on Monday from near Shivaji Nagar Garden when two mobike-borne youths came from their red bike and snatched away her mangalsutra. However, the thieves were unable to snatch the complete mangalsutra, thus, they snatched just the half of mangalsutra worth Rs 15,000. On the complaint of Prakash Sharma, Ambazari police booked the thieves and registered an offence under Section 392 and 34 of IPC.
In the second case, a 38-year-old woman was relieved of her mangalsutra worth Rs 30,000 under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj police station. The complainant Bhavna Manoj Gharodiya (38), a resident of Central Avenue, was going to Wathoda with her mother-in-law on her Activa (MH 31 BV 1319). Meanwhile, two motorcyclists came from behind and snatched away her mangalsutra worth Rs 30,000. Before they could raise an alarm, the thieves already fled away.
On the complaint of Bhavna, Lakadganj police have booked unidentified thieves under Sections 392 and 34 of the IPC.
