Two wrestlers found doping: Committee denies allegations

Nagpur: Wrestling is a compound skill of physical prowess and techniques. However often athletes, sports personnel use certain drugs to enhance the physical prowess and strength.

Two participants of the Wrestling championship were allegedly found doping by Deepak Khirwadkar, a close aid of Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

When Deepak Khirwadkar had gone to the venue to supervise and check the preparations of the 51st Maharashtra Kesri State-level Wrestling Championship, he found many syringes near the place where some participants were seated.

He is said to have complained about this to the organizing committee. However, when some media personnel contacted the members of the committee, they are said to have denied this allegation. However the committee has assured to award exemplary punishment to those found guilty of doping.

The 51st Maharashtra Kesri State-level Wrestling Championship is slated to begin today i.e. January 7, 2016. The Championship will be inaugurated by Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. The Chairman for the event is said to be Mayor Praveen Datke. The venue for the wrestling championship is Chitnis Park, Mahal.
