The incident came to light a few days ago when the officers intercepted the vehicle and allegedly demanded ₹50,000 from the driver to secure its release. They ultimately settled for a payment of ₹2,500 and allowed the vehicle to proceed.
Subsequently, the owner of the vehicle filed a formal complaint with senior police officials, prompting an immediate investigation.

The inquiry confirmed that the officers were indeed engaged in the extortion scheme. In response, the authorities have suspended both officers pending further action.
